Book Summary:

New York Times bestselling author Kay Hooper delivers once again with this chilling novel in which the Special Crimes Unit sends a Haven operative undercover to catch a charismatic killer who promises his victims heaven in exchange for more than their lives. . . Young, vulnerable, attractive, Tessa Gray looked like the perfect victim. Which was why Noah Bishop of the FBI’s Special Crimes Unit recruited the novice operative to use as bait for a killer hidden inside the Church of the Everlasting Sin–a fortified mountain compound where at least two women have already been murdered in ways that defy explanation. By entering the cult’s compound, Tessa will expose herself to the dark magnetism of its leader and his fanatically loyal followers. Once she’s inside, no one, not even Bishop or the town’s chief of police, can guarantee she’ll come out alive. And not even Tessa knows if she’s strong enough to resist the lure of a killer who is less than human.

Book Summary:

There is a very beautiful treatise of St. Thomas Aquinas on the adorable Sacrament of the Altar. It is hard to know which to admire more, the fulness and precision of its arrangement, or the way in which he brings in the words of the Holy Ghost from the Sacred Scriptures. From this treatise, and nearly always in its very words, I have arranged these Meditations for the Servants of the Holy Ghost. In fact, all that was needed was to number or letter the divisions of the book so that they could be easily seen. The prayers and thanksgivings I have added. I have put the teaching of the Saint by itself, and the words of the Holy Ghost by themselves. In this I have only carried out what St. Thomas has himself done in the treatise. For the more part he has, after stating and explaining his points, put the texts by themselves, referring to the first point, the second point, the third point, and so on. Putting them all together, therefore, is only carrying out what this Angelic Saint has done. Aeterna Press

Book Summary:

Charles Haddon Spurgeon was a reformed pastor who adhered to the 1689 Baptist Confession of faith. Spurgeon was a prolific writer and preacher. Spurgeon sometimes preached as often as ten times in a week. The quality, as well as the quantity, of his sermons earned him the nickname "Prince of Preachers." Spurgeon adhered to Calvinist views and supported a conservative approach to biblical interpretation while categorically denying the allegorical method. He opposed all liberal and pragmatic tendencies of the church. Witnesses claim that he delivered powerful sermons that mesmerized listeners with his oratorical prowess. The sermons were unfailing accurate and plumbed the depths of spiritual thought. Spurgeon authored many works, including thousands of sermons, an autobiography, biblical commentaries, a book on prayer, as well as multiple prayers, poems, and hymns. Book Summary:

Volume 31 Sermons 1816-1876 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to publish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Book Summary:

THIS BOOK REVEALS THE CONSPIRACY BY LEONARDO, NEWTON, GOETHE AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE INITIATE TRADITION TO INFLUENCE THE COURSE OF HISTORY BY MAGIC. From the dawn of history and perhaps beyond a small group of magi working within a specific magical tradition have believed they have been influencing the course of history, guiding mankind towards higher levels of consciousness. Theirs is a reincarnationist philosophy and they believe that, as initiates of the highest order, they return in local groups at key moments to conspire to change the course of events. Whether or not their beliefs are right, whether or not their magical practices work in the way they believe, this book will prove that certain remarkable individuals, many of them famous in other areas, have undoubtedly held these beliefs. Bestsellers such as HOLY BLOOD, HOLY GRAIL and THE TOMB OF GOD have been written by amateur historians trying to penetrate the veil of secrecy that surrounds this conspiracy; here for the first time an initiate of the order reveals the truth.

Book Summary:

The road, the way, the belief system that leads a human soul home and into the presence of God is not crowded. There are few who find it. So, it’s important to ask yourself: Are you on the right road? Elvin C. Myers, a former missionary and pastor to churches in Colorado, Virginia, and Florida, wrote this book to steer people away from errors that might damn their souls. The author draws on his more than sixty years of being a pastor to explore the differences between Protestant Evangelical beliefs and those of Catholicism. In doing so, he answers questions such as: Why is it incumbent on people who know the truth of the Lord to speak up? Does living a good life ensure someone will go to heaven? What are the consequences of being disobedient to the Lord? Can someone who is deeply religious still perish in hell? It is the author’s sincere hope that this book will lead you away from the judgment of hell and the lake of fire that is mentioned in Revelation 20:14–15, a place where the soul never dies.

Book Summary:

Every man on earth experiences the struggle with sin that which I will, I do not; that which I do I hate. Many have been completely overcome and have given up striving with sin. These know they are sinners and are not struggling not to be. Others have short victories, usually interspersed with long defeats. Many Christians, when they gave their lives to Christ, never anticipated what turned out to be long battles with sin. Some are disappointed in themselves because of their inability to overcome sin. These battles partly come from an improper understanding of the nature of the enemy. Sin can be overcome, but it requires knowledge and cooperation with God. This book attempts to show that sin is not just about what we do, but who we are. Using the Word of God, it demonstrates that sin can be overcome, not by recourse to human strength, but by taking on the nature of Jesus, who is Gods provision for an overcoming life.

“This Is My Doctrine”: The Development of Mormon Theology

By Charles R. Harrell
  • Format : Pdf, ePub, Mobi, Kindle
  • Publisher : Greg Kofford Books
  • Isbn : N.a
  • Pages : 597
  • Category : Religion
  • Reads : 234
  • File Pdf: this-is-my-doctrine.pdf

Book Summary:

The principal doctrines defining Mormonism today often bear little resemblance to those it started out with in the early 1830s. This book shows that these doctrines did not originate in a vacuum but were rather prompted and informed by the religious culture from which Mormonism arose. Early Mormons, like their early Christian and even earlier Israelite predecessors, brought with them their own varied culturally conditioned theological presuppositions (a process of convergence) and only later acquired a more distinctive theological outlook (a process of differentiation). In this first-of-its-kind comprehensive treatment of the development of Mormon theology, Charles Harrell traces the history of Latter-day Saint doctrines from the times of the Old Testament to the present. He describes how Mormonism has carried on the tradition of the biblical authors, early Christians, and later Protestants in reinterpreting scripture to accommodate new theological ideas while attempting to uphold the integrity and authority of the scriptures. In the process, he probes three questions: How did Mormon doctrines develop? What are the scriptural underpinnings of these doctrines? And what do critical scholars make of these same scriptures? In this enlightening study, Harrell systematically peels back the doctrinal accretions of time to provide a fresh new look at Mormon theology. “This Is My Doctrine” will provide those already versed in Mormonism’s theological tradition with a new and richer perspective of Mormon theology. Those unacquainted with Mormonism will gain an appreciation for how Mormon theology fits into the larger Jewish and Christian theological traditions.

The Works of William Perkins, Volume 4

  • Pages : 768
  • Category : Religion

  • File Pdf: the-works-of-william-perkins-volume-4.pdf

Book Summary:

This fourth volume contains two treatises of biblical exposition. The first treatise is A Godly and Learned Exposition upon the Whole Epistle of Jude . Finding the purpose of Jude’s letter in verse 3, Perkins calls for all Christians to persevere in professing the gospel by taking heed of false teachers and deceivers, who seek to infiltrate the church. While many of his points of application reflect a context peculiar to the Elizabethan era, his insights into what it means to “contend for the faith” still prove applicable today. The second treatise is A Godly and Learned Exposition or Commentary upon the Three First Chapters of Revelation , giving careful consideration of the seven letters to the seven churches of Asia. Perkins highlights the person of Christ and His significance to the church, focuses on what Christ approves and rebukes about the condition of the church, and emphasizes Christ’s bounty and humanity’s duty. Troubled by the prevalence of those who accept empty profession as conversion and dead formality as godliness, Perkins urges his audience to move beyond mere intellectual assent to heartfelt dedication to Christ.

Book Summary:

What would you do for revenge? To what lengths would you go? Would you destroy the man you loved or would you let him destroy you? La Ville des Dieux—The city of the gods. It isn't. It is a city full of evil, demons and devils that prey upon the weak, the vulnerable, the pitiless and the poor. Mortal men who call themselves gods own the city, control the lives of all who live within its vast borders. Yet they aren't gods-just men with the faces of angels and godlike bearings. And they share the weaknesses of all men-their sins, their lusts, their desires...and Selena knows this with a certainty. Sixteen years ago, the most beautiful of all the gods took her innocence and in doing so, he destroyed her soul. She has never forgiven him, and on the anniversary of that night, she sets out to remind him that some sins can never be forgiven, that some sins can only be atoned for with the sacrifice of blood. Adonis—The most beautiful of all the gods. He bears the face of an angel, and with a simple touch, a single look, he can inflame the passions of both women and men. Some say his beauty and the desire he ignites with his touch is a gift-others say it is his curse. When he stares into the ravished eyes of his past, he knows this woman who once found pleasure beneath his touch has been equally cursed by it. Sixteen years ago he destroyed the only woman to love him and ripped apart her soul...in order to save her life. No matter the sacrifice or the intent, there are some sins that can never be forgiven. But on the anniversary of that night, both Adonis and Selena will discover that while some sins require payment in blood, sins of the flesh can only be atoned for with the surrender of the body. One night forever changed their lives, and this one promises to do the same...
