Book Summary:

Michael Dubose, tortured by recurring dreams and a hatred for his mother, is a force not to be denied. As Mardi Gras begins in the French Quarter, Dubose’s time has come. Driven by loathing, Michael seeks deliverance from his pain. Five women must die so he can live free. Along with his roommate Billy, Michael devises a grandiose plan to end two lives—his mother and her maid—in the cathedral where he had been forced every Sunday of his youth to kneel and pay homage to a God that was just as unlovely as his mother. But three other women of pain must also die—Sister Monica, the lady in black and white who had belittled and berated him because he stuttered; Olivia Pressley, the girl he had thought was his friend until she turned on him his freshman year of high school; and, Martha Cravens, a boss who considered him slow, dull, and bumbling—and who was also an older, heavier version of his mother . As innocent people begin paying the price for Michael’s twisted plan, the New Orleans police hope for a miracle to save the French Quarter and its visitors as semantics and subtleties ravage a killer’s sick mind.

Book Summary:

My purpose is to accumulate biblical arguments in support of distinctively Catholic doctrinal positions, with Protestant readers particularly in mind. I also touch upon the closely related subjects of sola Scriptura (the Protestant notion of Scripture Alone), the Catholic Church's high regard for Holy Scripture, and critiques from our separated Christian brethren with regard to matters of ecclesiology (Church) and Tradition. Additionally, a fair degree of emphasis has been devoted to certain common and erroneous charges against the Catholic Church and to dialogue (back-and-forth discussion), so that readers can have a sense of interaction with opponents of various Catholic doctrines, and how they might be answered from Scripture, history, and reason. Almost all of these chapters came about as a result of challenges and dialogues undertaken via e-mail and Internet lists and bulletin boards, from mid-1996 through to mid-2000.

As the Goddess embodied, Twylla instantly kills anyone she touches. Each month, she's taken to the prison and forced to lay her hands on those accused of treason. No one will ever love a girl with murder in her veins. Even the prince, whose royal blood supposedly makes him immune to Twylla's fatal touch, avoids her company. But then a new guard arrives, a boy whose easy smile belies his deadly swordsmanship. And unlike the others, he's able to look past Twylla's executioner robes and see the girl, not the Goddess. Yet Twylla's been promised to the prince, and knows what happens to people who cross the queen. However, a treasonous secret is the least of Twylla's problems. The queen has a plan to destroy her enemies, a plan that requires a stomach-churning, unthinkable sacrifice. Will Twylla do what it takes to protect her kingdom? Or will she abandon her duty in favor of a doomed love?

Book Summary:

What do you do when one day you return home and life as you knew it had changed forever? Well I can answer that, the only thing you can do is trust God to get you through it. Most people would probably not share the things that I’m going to share in this memoir. In fear of being judged or even embarrassed. I choose not to feel neither, I believe that what I experienced, many have experienced and refuse to talk about. I know God allowed me to get through the most difficult time in my life, so that I can speak to his people about it. So that they can be encouraged to go through what life throws at us and come out on the other side, whole, happy and healed. Don’t get me wrong, it was challenging being so vulnerable, but I believe God wanted me that way so that I can reach the broken so that they can see his faithfulness. There were times that I did not think I would make it through this devastation, but I continued to trust God throughout the process. I am still healing daily, but I am so much further along this long journey. God is truly amazing, and his grace has been sufficient in my life. For those who can relate to what I’m about to share, my heart goes out to you. No one should ever have to endure this pain. But if this is why I had to experience this, to help others, then, so be it, I am a willing vessel.

Book Summary:

Meditation on death, though it seems depressing to many, is essential for our Salvation! Death is the one journey every man must go through alone. It is the one thing that sobers us all and can set us on a more resolute path to Holiness. But this path only begins after facing the reality of death, for to avoid it only increases our fear. In this popular abridgment of his monumental Preparation for Death, St Alphonsus teaches us the proper attitude toward death, which is one of readiness, of always having our debts cleared. Each chapter is a short consideration with three points, easily understood by laity in all states of life. Each point is followed by meditations and prayers for perseverance in our efforts to lead good lives. To aid busy priests in their sermons, St Alphonsus purposely included texts from Scripture and passages from the Holy Fathers, personally selected by the Saint himself to touch the heart of every reader and listener. St Alphonsus shows us how death is, on the natural level, a great sorrow but, on the supernatural level, a great gift. Understanding it as a gift and implementing this knowledge in our lives is the lesson of each powerful meditation. This book is a wonderful way to enhance your Lenten devotions and gain a more profound gratitude for Christ's victory over Death and Hell through His crucifixion and Resurrection!

Book Summary:

Can a Believer in Christ Go to Hell? This book reveals the answer to that question with supporting Bible verses. It reveals the reality of how lost most believers are, because of the lack of hearing the preached and taught Word of God. It reveals how most believers live like they are unsaved, by seeking selfish pleasures and sinking deeper and deeper in their sins. It also shows just how lost most believers are, with a distant relationship with Jesus. This will be the most important question you will ever ask yourself, and if you are not sure if you are heaven or hell bound, then let me guide you to the answer that’s found in the Word. So many think just because Jesus died for our sins, that we can do whatever we want and plead the blood. I want to lead you to the truth and encourage everyone that we can live like the Christians we claim we are. That is what God wants, isn’t it? Grace doesn’t give us the right to live ungodly, while claiming to be believers. The wages of sin is death, and our bodies are God’s temple, so let’s live to please Him and not self. It’s my duty to reveal to you the message He gave me, and I pray this book makes a huge difference in your life. This is why I was born, so that this information would be told and souls would repent and run to Jesus. So that He would change us and make our lives worthy of His sacrifice. Can a believer in Christ go to hell? Let’s find out.

Book Summary:

A Year of Love Each day of this year I am challenging myself, and anyone else who will join, to love like you’ve never been hurt. Love unconditionally. Love completely. Love forgivingly. What if when Jesus said to love your neighbor as yourself, He really meant it? Think about your neighbors, your co-workers, your in-laws and even your outlaws..... Do you love them as yourself? I would like to start with the two greatest commandments: Matt. 22:34, “Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” In Reality, Jesus said this: Love God & Love People Let us hold these two truths in our hearts this year and Love God with all of our heart, soul, and minds and Love others as much as we love ourselves....

Paul Terry, pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church “As Annie William’s prayer partner and friend for over twenty years, I’ve had the delight of experiencing the distinctive way the Lord speaks His perfect Word into Annie at just the right time for the benefit and blessing of others. Book Summary:

DESCRIPTION: Besides incest, one of the most taboo and forbidden fruit is that of propositioning a priest. But, c'mon, you know you've seen a hot priest before and the first place your mind goes is, well, you know. Father Sean is absolutely mouthwatering, and I'm determined to have him. Actually, I think it is love at first sight. EXCERPT: “Bless me father, for I have sinned. It’s been…uh…three weeks since my last confession.” “What is your sin, my son?” “I am in lust, Father.” “And? Is that so bad?” “No, it isn’t. But the man who I am lusting after is forbidden fruit.” “Ah, that is a problem.” “But I can’t help myself. I saw him in the street the other day and was gobsmacked by his beauty. He’s an angel on earth, Father.” *** “Bless me Father, for I have sinned. It’s been one day since my last confession.” “Yes?” He says with some interest…maybe even excitement? “It’s becoming more difficult by the day to stop myself from having dirty sex with another man. I see a man who resembles the forbidden fruit and I want to do his brains out. I want to…oh, my God! I’m so sorry! Forgive me for speaking so bluntly!” “You may speak exactly how you like with your priest, my son. Go on…” “Well, he followed me into the men’s room at a bar, and…and…” “And what?” I can hear the prurient interest in his voice. Gotcha! “I wanted to have sex with him but I just couldn’t go that far.” “Why not? Do you feel being gay is sinful?” “I’m not sure. It’s a battle my mind goes through day and night.” “I see. Would you like to discuss this matter more fully? Would that help you get it straight, no pun intended, in your mind?” “I had already thought to come to you every day on my lunch hour. Would that be all right, Father?” “Yes! I mean, of course. That will be fine.”

What Jesus Did for Me

Book Summary:

What Jesus Did For Me is the title of my book and the very first poem I wrote. I went through a period of depression, brought on by tormenting voices in my head. At the time, most of the people around me associated the depression with Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D), as it mainly seemed to affect me during the winter months. It wasnt until I became a Born Again Christian that I discovered that the problem was actually spiritual. During the time that I suffered from depression, I lost all my confidence and self-esteem. I had no hope. I became nervous and fearful and I wanted to give up and die. The voices made me believe that I was no good, I was useless, but most of all, that I was a wicked and bad person. I got to a point where I didnt recognise myself anymore. I had always considered myself to be good person; reliable, dependable, kind, thoughtful, and caring. Suddenly, I was told I was somebody different. This became too much for me to bear. Even worse, the voices told me that God would reject me, He would never love me and He would turn me away if I went to Him. Being raised as a Catholic, I believed that God loved everyone, so I was absolutely devastated when I believed that I was not good enough to be loved by God. Eight months after becoming Born Again, the Holy Spirit would visit me during the early hours of the morning. He would minister words of peace and comfort to me. This brought healing to my pain. I now feel safe, secure, and significant. I now know that I have purpose to my life. My poems seek to edify, encourage and inspire other readers, and to let them know that Jesus not only changes lives, but He also heals brings peace, joy, hope and comfort into our lives. My book is written in a poetic style. My poems depict my journey to salvation and illustrate how I have grown and matured in Christ. As you read through my poems you will experience the sense of new hope, strength and joy that God has given me through having a relationship with Jesus Christ. Every one of my poems was Holy Spirit inspired to bring comfort and healing, but many of them also serve as words of wisdom, warning, direction and praise. They also show how God inhabits the praises of His people, and how ones praise can completely change your circumstances around. Allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you as He ministered to me as you read through the pages of What Jesus Did For Me.

Book Summary:

This book is about how we need a savior. The penalty for sin is death, but Christ takes our sins and saves our souls when we accept him. This book deals with the issues of life without Christ—how we live in a sinful world, cursed by God, until you accept his son Jesus. Did you ever wonder why your life is so messed up, even though you might be a good person? In this book I explain why: it’s because if you’re not born again—saved by the cross of Christ and the blood of Christ—you’re living in a world that God cursed. On the cross Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law so that we could be blessed by God again, reconciled back to God, and put in good right standing with him again. Jesus did all this on the cross for us. In the book I explain what happened to man because of sin in the Scriptures, and what happens to us when we accept Jesus. God loves us and made a way to get out of sin, be blessed again, and escape hell. Jesus did all of that for us. I explain it in the Word of God in this book and break it down so that you can understand salvation. If you die and never accept Jesus in your life, Revelation 20:15-20 says you will go to hell. That’s the gospel truth. It doesn’t cost us anything to be saved—just a prayer and inviting Jesus into your heart and life. It cost him everything, but he did it because he loved us.

Book Summary:

The Lord is Wonderful and is my Bright and Morning Star. He is the Lifter Up Of My Head, my Light, my Strength, my Rock, my Sanctuary and my Refuge. He is the First and the Last, the Almighty and the Chief Among Ten Thousand. He is my Mercy, my Goodness, my Loving Kindness and my Steadfast Love. He is My Prince, my Immanuel and my Father. Come with me and explore the riches and wonders of God's character, through His names and descriptions in the Bible. We will get to know Him better, enter into a deeper intimate relationship with Him and be able to say, "Yes, He is altogether lovely; He is my beloved." Along with my previous two books, "Love Me Passionately" and "You Are Everything," this book encourages you to interact with the Scriptures. This was something done by Joshua, the apostle Paul as well as our Lord. As you speak aloud the text, you will learn the benefits of confessing the Truth, your faith will grow and you will be able to trust God more. Lord, there are times when life does not seem to be fair, but You are good. There are times when it is difficult to lift up my head to You, but You are good. There are times when it is hard to say, "I love You," but You are good. Lord, when I am struggling and in despair, help me, for You are good. Paul F Taylor

Book Summary:

An intriguing question - Do Muslims understand Jesus in some ways more historically appropriate than Christians do? - leads Robert F. Shedinger into a series of provocative challenges to the disciplines of religious studies and comparative religions. Questioning the convenient distinction between "politics" and "religion" and the isolation of "religion" from wider social and cultural questions, Shedinger offers a proposal for a more accurate and respectful understanding of faith that he argues will improve possibilities for mutual understanding among Christians, Muslims - and others.

Book Summary:

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have--Jesus Christ. Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials--gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. 1 Cor.3:11-13 NLT My second book of the series on discipleship builds on the foundation laid in Basic Discipleship 101. When I first received Christ into my life, I began to change dramatically. However, after the initial change, many other sins still needed to be addressed--some that proved to be more tenacious. Even though other people could not see these sins, I longed to be free from them. Driven by my guilt, I asked Christian leaders how to overcome sin. No one knew how to present principles that would enable me to overcome sin. In fact, many respected Christians denied the possibility of living a holy life, pleasing to God. One day, I read in the beatitudes: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled." I started fasting and asking Him to teach me. God responded by showing me principles which enabled me to have victory over my sins. Sometimes it came by watching a program or listening to a message, other times in conversation, and still other times through personal Bible study. After forty years, I have accumulated Biblical principles that through Christ can enable a person overcome sin. I am not perfect, but am being perfected. The more I become like Christ, the more I am aware that I am not like Christ. I am on a journey of progressive sanctification in which I continue by faith to gain victory over sins. We will never become sinless, but we can sin less and less as we surrender our lives to Christ. In this collection of studies, we will examine the concept of sin, identify the causes of sin, and consider the principles from the Bible which will enable us to overcome sin. Book Summary:

In 1992, celebrated novelist Ann Patchett launched her remarkable career with the publication of her debut novel, The Patron Saint of Liars. On this 25th anniversary, read the best-selling book that is “beautifully written . . . a first novel that second- and third-time novelists would envy for its grace, insight, and compassion” (Boston Herald). St. Elizabeth's, a home for unwed mothers in Habit, Kentucky, usually harbors its residents for only a little while. Not so Rose Clinton, a beautiful, mysterious woman who comes to the home pregnant but not unwed, and stays. She plans to give up her child, thinking she cannot be the mother it needs. But when Cecilia is born, Rose makes a place for herself and her daughter amid St. Elizabeth's extended family of nuns and an ever-changing collection of pregnant teenage girls. Rose's past won't be kept away, though, even by St. Elizabeth's; she cannot remain untouched by what she has left behind, even as she cannot change who she has become in the leaving.
